All unaccompanied baggage or household goods sent via air are automatically covered by International Airlines. They have limited liability of USD $20.00/kg between the airport of departure and airport of arrival for loss or damage. Each kilogram is covered for USD $20 (which excludes breakables & Valuables) against negligence or willful damage by the airline (carrier) providing there has been no contributory negligence by the shipper consignee or other claimant, e.g.: improper packaging.

But Shipping lines offer no such cover. In both modes, unaccompanied baggage or household goods shipments are carried on the basis of “shipper’s risk”. Which means it is the responsibility of the sender to insure their shipment for loss or damage.
